Young People Ask (With Added Snarkiness)

I’ve got a particular beef with the “Young People Ask” (YPA) articles.  A big part of that is the fact that they’re the primary tool for the Witnesses to help brainwash their kids, but more than that is the fact that they’re just so easy to make fun of.  For awhile I was looking at doing a series based on the YPA book but only using answers based on the Old Testament.  That’s kind of run out of steam, though I might pick it up again at some point in the future.  Right now I’m much more entertained by taking YPA articles and adding the running commentary that goes through my head while I read them.  To borrow KMFDM – I used to hate the Witnesses.  Now I just make fun of them.  It’s more effective that way.

Amish are the only faith that allow their youth make up their own decisions at the age of 16years.indoctrination of children should be outlawed. The wasted time and energy put into my own indoctrination hindered my ability to even communicate and it was out of fear. Now i am not sure where the fear was instilled in me but it was obviously before the doctrine was driven home. Maybe simultaneously, i just know at age 8 i didnt believe in what was expected of me. I just mimicked what the other children were doing and saying and the parents ate it up…. How precocious these young children are…. Yet, age 8 is not an age to which i could do anything about it. I bid my time all the way til 16, then asta la vista baby! And another waste of time and energy i spent until i could just accrpt who i was and who everyone else wanted to be. I often wonder how life could be different having not been made to bear false testimony for so mamy years. Thats why i believe indoctrination of children is surmountable to abuse.
